It’s coming up to 9 months since training started with Sifu Kelley and the UCB training. I wanted to give an update with my progress, the practice and benefits its had for my health.
Ill start with my health.
For years, I struggled to understand the root causes of some of my health issues. Migraines, digestive problems, and muscle cramps all the time, night cramp, during and after martial arts or sports practice, and just out of nowhere.
After about 6 months of the UCB Program I realized the body often whispers before it screams with these conditions. I always had a gut feeling (no pun intended that some of the migraines were digestive related). Learning to listen to these subtle signals has been kinda life changing for my health and given me some time to understand it better.
One of the side effects of this practice has been recognizing the link between my digestive system and my migraines. Before, I sometimes would experience a stomach ache, followed neck ache and then by an intense headache that often escalated into a 2-3 day migraine. These episodes felt unavoidable and uncontrollable. And would happen more and more as I grew older.
Thanks to the increased awareness so far, the stomach ache changed to realising something is up with digestive system, it feeling slower. And then later on realising my gut and body was feeling drier.
I could start sensing the early warning signs of my gut feeling dry and it creating tightness near my neck which lead to migraines.
For example, I’ve noticed a specific sensation in my stomach, often accompanied by an internal sound—like a high pitched fizz.
This subtle signal is my body’s way of telling me that a migraine might be on its way and that my digestive system is slowing down. Recognizing this connection has given me the opportunity to take action before the situation worsens. And now noticing the feelings before that and avoiding it.

With this awareness, I’ve made adjustments to my diet and incorporated supplements that help prevent these episodes. But not until i ignored the symptoms once and had a really bad event of migraines and cramps all over my body for a week. This led me to the hospital, and with some luck and reassuring them that this felt like it was starting in the gut, I got recommended a very open minded specialist.
Without the ability to identify the signals from my digestive system, I wouldn’t have known where to start and explain to him what I was feeling all these years since childhood. He done the correct tests, and did a full check on my gut history noticing i had a series of antibiotics for candida and thrush as a baby and toddler. Another long story short, it was a snowball effect of stealth candida and eczema and other gut and digestive organ issues all these years effecting the rest of my health.
Thank you for all the help and benefits. I have one more post about the training
