I kept thinking that today was the 25th, but it is the 26th! I have to wake up early to open the gym. Wednesdays are my long shift days.
After I finished training a client this morning, I did bitter pill for a total of 8 minutes. I had some Chinese pipa music playing on my phone while I practiced. I was getting annoyed that the music kept skipping for some reason. It turned out that if I plug my headphones too deep into the jack that it causes the music to skip. Maybe the next time I can practice longer with a clearer head. I practiced the Guang ping form after bitter pill. Total practice time was not very long. I wanted to find a park with more shade to practice longer, but I do not know that side of town very well.
I just came home not long ago from the Nashville Zen Center. There are services every Tuesday night at 7 and Saturday morning at 7. I cannot make the Saturday mornings because I have to train someone at 9, and the do not end until 8:45. The Tuesday night sessions involve two sitting sessions with a short walking meditation between the two seated sessions. After that is some opening chanting, a dharma talk, and the closing chants.
There was a woman there wearing a sash with Japanese writing on it. I think she said she has started taking her vows. It was funny because she was wearing a public enemy t-shirt with their big crosshairs logo on the back. Just looked funny for someone who took vows not to kill.she was kinda cute,though. We talked about I Liq Chuan. She brought up Shaolin kungfu which was pretty cool.
The meditation sessions went well, but at the start all I could imagine was Sifu saying "doooooooont meditate!" I had to try not to burst out laughing.i was trying to keep my shoulder lined up with my hips, but my back started hurting during the first session. I was okay during the second session, but I think I may have been asleep for some of it. It didn't seem like 30 minutes. I began having daydreams about Dwight Howard getting traded to the Lakers. I don't like Dwight Howard-- he's too goofy.
Earlier, when I was doing bitter pill, I was having a hard time stretching the Yao and maintaining a certain feeling along my spine while keeping my feet wrapped and shoulder relaxed. It was like as soon as I would correct or even focus on fixing on area, there was a kink somewhere else.
I haven't done any Wuji standing lately, so I want to get back to that tomorrow.
Oh yeah, I had a big salad for dinner last night and tonight. I also had some collard greens and cabbage with my chicken for lunch today. Doing better about getting more vegetables this week! I am taking sliced apples, carrots, and hummus to snack on at work in the morning. :-)
