Frustration and training

My training over the last 6 months had consisted of times of breakthrough and release where I felt more comfortable and at ease in my body followed sudden, inexplicable regressions to a level of discomfort that I didn't have previously. Then, I spend time trying to train me way out of that. It's like a switch gets flipped and my body just does something else. Training sessions loosen me up and I feel better but often it doesn't last regressing into some other uncomfortable position. I know training is the answer.

Non-interference, Self directed training.

Sketch of Meditation-vs-mindfulness

Today I did some planking and back bear, beginning and ending with standing meditation. After feeling some of the most clear switch-to-stitch followed by a very strong and stable non-interference/pearls mental model, my body decided it was time to plank. It was incredibly easy. Yes, there was extreme stretching and even more extreme mental discipline, but the "effort" was nothing. I could only do three total.

Morning or Evening?

I find that training only works in the morning for me. By the time the evening or even afternoon I am very tired and have trouble engaging. The morning, before work, obviously I have the most energy so that makes sense. Wondering if there are benefits to overcoming the fatigue that would come in the afternoon and evening. Probably. Training when your mind doesn’t want to. I find that when I go home and try to train this gets impossibly hard.

Bottom of the U / Transverse Couple

When I do the transverse couple I always feel like there has to be this release and/or connection happening somewhere amongst these muscles pictured below.

Shoulder couple or part of the transverse stretch

When I was doing my standing meditation today I felt a stretch inside the right part of what I think is the shoulder cavity. When I was putting my attention on that area sometimes it would move and I would notice that there was some kind of random bubbling or pulling sensation that would only happen for a moment on the inner back near the shoulder blade. The type of stretch feeling in the shoulder cavity feels like the kind of push pull feeling in the feet or in the pelvic like the transverse stretch.

Supination

foot

I've noticed my feet naturally supinate while standing. When I straighten them out, it produces stretching around the inside of my knee. I'm wondering what is the best way to address this or if I should allow the supination.

Push Pull Elbow -> one side

When I raise my arms and do the push pull elbow I think it is starting to be more clear on the left side of my body but on the right side I don't feel the same sensation. Is that normal at all, or are there any things that should be done to help clarify the other half of the body?

Back slap bear slap stretches

foldy-red-flex

When practicing the back slap bear slap I was feeling a stretch in my lower abs on the side of the body that I was stepping towards while twisting the hips before the front of the chest moves. I don't think I had ever noticed this before and/or maybe I'm doing it differently now. Is this part of what we want to feel when doing this exercise?

Meditation and Self-Acceptance

Deconstructing Movement or Why Primitives

Over the decades of training and teaching I have generally held that constant change is important and have tried to avoid the traps of sentimentality and routine. As I am codifying these experiences into something concrete and reliably transmissible, students ask for simplification. I try, but really, I feel that simplifiction is the most compelling trap of all. I'll do it, but will also show how seeking simplification when embracing complexity and uncertainty might be better.

Umbrella ribs

The biggest change that I've encountered recently is my thoracic spine not collapsing. This started as a feeling of the bottom ribs spreading and being lifted like a parachute filling with rising air. To get this to happen, I would actually lift my ribs on the fron a little as if I were trying to catch some rising air and when placed correctly they lift and the entire ribcage becomes a supportive structure. After further training isee that the ribs are only changing because of the thoracic spine activating to get in on the Standing.

Belt area soreness

I've been doing the exercise you taught us on Wednesday using the diaphragm to stretch forward, backward, left, right, and twisting. Let me tell you, I have been VERY sore around my belt line. Rolling over in bed is groan inducing. Lol! The sensation is interesting but I'll be glad when there's no pain associated with it. Is there anything in particular about this region that is important to pay attention to?

Good vibrations

I've noticed a new sensation. When I stand and feel the foot couple, I get a feeling of the bones and the meat separating from the bones in my feet. The bones are being pressed down and the meat is hanging down between the bones of the foot so theres a front to back stretch fom the heel to the toes and a transverse stretch from side to side. It's pretty intense. As I release into the feeling of the aligning to the bones and the stretch increases, the soft tissue starts to fade from my awareness and I feel a humming/ vibration in my bones. It's not like the buzz of static.

Lymphatic breath

I just finished the most recent lymphatic breath lesson. I felt all of the things you pointed out. It is very intersting how the sensations change from the belly/hips, to the kidneys/back, and then the very interesting pouring over the shoulders/collar bones. The sensation around the neck and collar bones was a cool, thick, liquidy feeling. Things in my body felt more clear to my awareness. You mentioned smiling down and releasing the perineum simultaneously and that was very helpful.

Bend / Arm swings new feeling

I'm not sure if I've somehow changed the way I'm doing the bend / arm swings or if my body is just changing. The last few times I've done it I've felt a stretch through the arm pit and also I've felt some stretch more towards the lower back. Is it expected for the arms swings feeling to change as we progress or have I accidentally started doing the motion in a wrong way.
