Sat. Apr. 28:   I wanted to post today about my practice for the last few days....IT'S SUCKED!!!

Armpit

From time to time I am getting this very hard to describe feeling in my armpits, especially in my left armpit. It is like a tightness that feels a little buzzy maybe and kind of cool. Defintely not comfortable. I dont know what it is. Any ideas?

Oops...

Wish I had checked to see the response from Kelly Sifu! Since I've been doing Yiquan inconsistently the last 4 years, I'm sort of used to holding standing postures for long periods. I'll remember to keep the standing portion short for now.

Training went pretty well today. Mostly because I just observed my self. I refrained from judging as much as I could. I noticed a few things.

1. I can't seem to release between my shoulder blades. It always get tight and stiff there while training. What can I do to help this?

2. Turning the body and keeping the belly button and breast bone together is actually pretty tricky. I have done some Practical Method Chen Taijiquan and they do all kinds of twisting of the waist. I had seen others online doing it and now I see it is a habit in my body.

The Bitter Part of the Pill

I've been extremely busy since my last post, but I can at least say that it has been a productive busy. I have two certifications as a personal trainer  and am also a kettlebell instructor. I'm taking 3 college courses, and I'm in the process of applying to a master's program for Exercise Science. Unfortunately my IMA practice has been falling by the wayside with school, training, and having to take care of my grandmother. :(

A thought experience as though eating bitter

Patrick, first of all I want to apologize for plagiarizing a passage on your comment to Michael’s post, not to mentioned Sifu’s FAQ. I intended to comment your diary entry “TJ April 14, 2012“, then after reading Sifu’s comments to both of you, I thought not delaying it anymore because the right timing to do it would be lost. I guess this post of mine goes also in accordance with Michael’s undoubtedly progress (still, who am I to evaluate anybody’s progress…?).

Frustrated...

I know that I have only been doing this stuff for several weeks, but I can't help but be frustrated that I still can't feel the rising energy or anything that resembles the stuff that is described by sifu or anyone else who has been doing this a lot longer than I have. I thought I may be able to get a sense, at least, of some of these feelings but I've got bupkis...Don't feel pressure that is applied to my body going effortlessly to the floor through my structure or any where close. Blah Bla Blah. You get the picture.

Sat. Apr. 14:  Went to a workshop lead by a taiji practitioner from the William CC Chen school.  IT was pretty much basic stuff... structure, release, central equilibreum, root, etc.   So some things happened in the body during some of the individual structural corrections that got me a little confused on a few things especially in regards to what it is we're doing in ILC and how that differs from what the taiji guys (and girls) are doing.

Thur. Apr. 5:  LIMITS.  I have wasted so much time trying to emulate the shapes, etc. of Sifu...
